Small is Beautiful at the Malvern Festival of Innovation

On Thursday, the 7th of November, The Festival of Innovation at the Malvern Theatres hosted a cyber security symposium with seminars from Lotus F1, D-RisQ, QinetiQ, the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and 3SDL. Titania was also present with a presentation delivered by Andy Williams, International Business Head.

Titania Ltd is a young, dynamic cyber security software company which provides auditing software for computer networks and compliance with industry standards. The company has clients in 50 countries in a wide range of business and governmental sectors.

With the focus being on innovation, Andy’s talk ‘Small is Beautiful’ focused on how being small can be used as an advantage to revolutionise the way business is done. Whilst there are many giants in the cyber security market, Andy revealed the future is bright for small, innovative companies. SME’s have a different approach to conducting business and they have the flexibility to challenge the conventional in favour of constant improvement. Big companies struggle with innovation whereas small companies will take risks, but also re-define the boundaries of success and identify new trends and demand rather than just satisfying the existing ones.

Aside from cyber security, the festival has also featured engineering and innovation, environment and sustainability, tourism technology thus aiming to attract a varied audience of entrepreneurs, business people and technology enthusiasts. In association with e-skills and the CyberSecurity Challenge, the show introduced a series addressed to 12 – 16 year olds keen to learn about cyber security and to try their hand at writing and cracking codes. According to the Festival of Innovation the pre-booked places proved quite popular with the young attendants.
